Tokachidake Bōgakudai, Biei, Hokkaido(10/11/2024)
I headed back to Bogakudai at Tokachidake, Biei, Hokkaido, to capture the low-latitude aurora on October 11, 2024, after hearing that there was a possibility of seeing it again.
This time, the aurora was clearly visible as streaks of light, similar to the aurora curtain, and I could even see the movement of its position.
Apparently, a much stronger low-latitude aurora was observed the previous morning (around 2:00-3:00 AM on October 11). The aurora appeared more vivid, likely because there was no moonlight, and city lights had already dimmed.
On the day of this shoot, the best display was between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM, but since there was both moonlight and some city lights, the aurora took on a slightly pink hue. Still, it was an incredible experience.
