Location: Kamihorokamettoku Mountain Shelter, Tokachi Mountain Range, Hokkaido (October 2023)
A stunning dawn and sunrise. Though it’s a chilly autumn morning in the mountains, the sunlight feels incredibly warm. Mt. Tokachidake was clearly visible as well. In Hokkaido, there are few high-altitude mountain huts where you can stay overnight at this time of year, so I’m truly grateful for the Kamihoro Emergency Hut.
