Biei, Hokkaido(2024/9)
I had the chance to experience harvesting mini tomatoes in Biei, Hokkaido. This time, I once again visited Nitta Farm, where I had previously enjoyed harvesting asparagus earlier this summer.
There were 20 different varieties of mini tomatoes. Since they were grown without pesticides, I was able to pick and eat them on the spot, tasting each one before choosing my favorites to harvest. With detailed explanations of each type from Mr. Nitta, it was a fun and educational experience.
On my way back, I stopped by the local roadside station to purchase more vegetables from Nitta Farm. They had a fascinating selection, including purple corn called “Yamato Rouge” and an unusual type of chili pepper known as “Biquinho.” There were plenty of interesting vegetables to choose from.
